This Cécred Hair Product Impressed Multiple Beauty Editors
Yes, in a post-Fenty world, celebrity beauty brands can sometimes feel like overkill. Still, when a beloved superstar enters the ring, it's impossible not to be intrigued, as is the case with Cécred, Beyoncé's new hair-care line.
After hinting that she was coming out with a beauty company back in May 2023, the singer confirmed the venture in February 2024, to the delight of her fans worldwide. Shortly after, the entire product line was revealed, including everything from shampoo to a rice-water treatment, aimed at nourishing the hair.
Of course, we had to try it for ourselves, so three POPSUGAR editors with different hair types put the the Moisture Sealing Lotion ($38) to the test. The brand claims it can be used on damp or dry hair to lock in moisture, fight frizz, seal split ends, and help with styling by providing a soft hold. Read ahead to see each editor's thoughts on the lotion.
Cécred Moisture Sealing Lotion on Thick, Coily Hair
"Before I mention how the product works, I would like to formally submit my request to make its Temple Oud scent a standalone fragrance line. Outside of hair perfumes, I've smelled good hair-care products before, but nothing compares to the scent of the Cécred.
The fragrance experience alone started me off on a good foot for testing, but then I remembered that I had a sew-in protective style. I was not about to complete an hours-long wash day on a whim, but thankfully, the lotion can be used on dry hair, so that's what I did. I used it both on my extensions and my leave-out — which is in its natural, type 4 texture — and I was incredibly impressed.
My extensions were already styled straight, so the lotion added incredible shine and provided frizz control. However, what really impressed me was how it worked on my natural hair. When using it dry, you're supposed to use a styling tool, so I opted for the Dyson Airwrap. At first, I thought the blowdryer gave me those results, but when they persisted for three days after use with my normal sleeping habits (I don't wrap my hair and sleep like an animal), I knew that I had the lotion to thank. Moving forward, this will be a staple in my hair routine." — Ariel Baker, assistant editor, beauty.

Cécred Moisture Sealing Lotion on Fine Hair
"First, let me just say the packaging on this product is stunning. It's chic enough that I don't feel like I have to hide it in my medicine cabinet; in fact, I like showcasing it front and center on my vanity. The first time I tested it, I was immediately impressed. I have fine hair, and although I was worried that this product would weigh it down, I experienced the opposite. I like to apply it to the ends of my hair once it's dry and styled, and I've found that it helps me cut down on frizz. Then, I'll apply the excess to the crown of my head — but not too much because I've found that it can make my roots a bit greasy if I overdo it. Another plus? It smells great, and even though the fragrance isn't too intense, it leaves my hair smelling good all day." — Renee Rodriguez, staff writer and social producer

Cécred Moisture Sealing Lotion on Fine Hair
"I have to applaud Beyoncé for this product's incredible scent and packaging; hair products are rarely this chic. Though the Moisture Lotion can be used on damp or dry hair, I decided to use it right out of the shower. I have very fine hair with a soft wave, so I was a little nervous when I felt the texture of the lotion — it's thick and silky but definitely not lightweight. I applied about a dime-size amount to my palms and worked it through my ends, careful not to get it too close to my roots. For best results, the brand recommended heat styling afterward, but I had already hit my quota for the week on hot tools, so I opted to try air-drying. After my hair dried, I noticed a slight frizz reduction (which likely would have been even greater had I heat-styled). My waves also had nice volume and thickness, whereas my hair typically feels a little limp." — Jessica Harrington, senior beauty editor
